If you are going for a fresh install, I'd advise you not to install BepInEx in Valheim folder, but in a dedicated folder you can create in AppData. It is explained in one BepInEx installation section (the drawback being tp add a path as a launching parameter).

That way, it will be simpler to correctly update BepInEx without corrupting the game (hence to be sure that BepInEx is not the cause of the crash),

For now, BepInEx still works fine on linux, but tbh, I don't have any complex mods that may turn obsolete if the game makes changes to the UI or the way content is accessed.

i know, i did that too but i gotta say that bepinex is the cause of the crash. even without any mods, launching the game and bepinex separately using thunderstore it still crashes.
