Fish wraps are still fine. You can get more raw fish per fish you caught. The only real downside is that you can no longer cook raw fish on a campfire, which seems nonsensical to many of us. But before the update fishing was such a chore that you wouldn't be doing too much of that anyway. You can also mount huge fish of various kinds on wall now, nothing wrong with that.

You don't need to get into fishing now if you didn't do it previously. With each update, there may be new food recipes introduced, so keep an eye out for those.
