I don't think they will add diving. It would require a lot of rework plus i think it would break immersion.
As for bigger ships, if we get them we need to have some purpose to use them, since current longboat is big and fast enough to do all the work. Who knows, they may introduce more enemies or mechanics that will need a bigger ship.
Ah, they also said they were working on a flying mob for the "Ocean".
