You can pretty much just Aoe the mobs down and stun larger mobs with middle mouse.
Loxes are best to tamed and killed by a knife :x4boron: (if you go for damage)

Nah , takes far less time hunting them to wait the breed thing , them spawn a lot if you scout a little a good plain biome , there is not stared lox so tame them for food is loosing time that i dont have
