Sail around that swamp until you find a safer place to dock your boat, like a neighboring meadow or black forest biome. Once you're on shore, immediately build a crafting bench and a portal back to your main settlement. Build a wooden wall around it to keep it safe, and then go get your stuff. This way if you die again, you can just use the portal to get back to the swamp instead of sailing.
