Any mountain with a Modder altar should have several golems. I found 2 such mountains and marked golem locations. They usually spawn in the same area. Make a portal on top of those mountains and visit it every 5 days (i think their respawn time is 5 days). I don't know about altitude, but if you find drake eggs there should also be stone golems at those altitudes.
