So any loot one does not want is blocked, and only the loot one wants to pick up is picked up. By holding down the [Shift]-key one can split up stacks. By default the stack will always be split in half, then using the slider one can choose how much of the stack to transfer. By filling all ones inventory slots with an item (silver say) the only item which will automatically be picked up is silver, blocking ones inventory to unwanted items. Easy-peasy.
