TBF Viking culture formed on the edge of the same landmass, I expect there's a bunch of overlapping mythology.

I’m thinking there is a clear influence of vodka involved. The Russians are a proud people, but they have a long history of cultural appropriation when teaching history within their borders.

And that is not intended as an insult...I am married to a proud Russian.
