activate devcommands and debugmode in console and hit Z (default) to fly. Hover over the spot where the iron went down, and press CTRL to lower your character all the way to the ocean floor, (without de-activating fly mode) and should be able to pick up anything that sinks in the ocean that way.

Keep in mind that while your character can physically go down there, the camera won't follow below the surface of the water.
