Totally disagree with the exploring aspect. With shipping metals you have to go back and forth over the same route. While I have all that extra time to explore because I can take my metal through portals. I have played both ways and found I had way more free time to do whatever by removing that restriction.

For the way YOU play.

There is no need for travel if you build bases and/or outposts on site or next to it. Makes draining those ore veins much faster when you aren't hauling long distance.

Then you can explore new areas and find other resources you need. Rinse and repeat. Logistics is key.
