It's meh. I feel we should have gotten a lot more building pieces than we did.
New food and kitchen stuff is ok, but I'm not fond of the re-worked Health/Stamina system when it didnt need it.
I have to agree on the food and stamina/health overhaul. It wasn't needed. They at least took some time to work on the balancing a bit due to the overwhelming negative reception, but I don't think they're quite where they need to be with it yet. Some players like it, some really don't. I think they could have just slightly tweaked the old system and had better results - and happier customers but they may get it right after a few more updates and a bit more balancing. Since they've been quite receptive to player feedback I think they'll find a middle ground where most people will be happy or at least okay with the system.
I wouldn't have complained if they added a few more building pieces and options, but there's still time for more to be added later. This isn't the only update that's going to happen.
Unfortunately I feel like they're pushing things toward more complex crafting in general, and crafting (cooking for now but I think the rest is going to get more complex) is another thing I liked better before the update. Food was fairly simple for the most part. Now there are more things to cook with, more things required to cook, more upgrades all of which require more space. More inventory management, more micromanagement, more time spent crafting which will lead to less exploration and combat. It feels like just a bit too much of a shift in the focus of the game, and for a lot of us it's a shift away from what we liked about the game. Simple, effective, fun.
What do I mean? Well, you could just go kill a deer, kill a couple neck, roast the meat, grab a berry or a mushroom then jam it all in your face and go kill stuff. Took a couple minutes. Now you have to collect more foods, worry about which stat to buff - health or stamina - carry barf berries in case you have to change things around later (barf berries need to go away - it's ridiculous), carry more food, and you need more advanced cooking stations to cook stuff you could make with just two stations before the update. Unnecessary complexity. Conan Exiles made that mistake with so. Many. New. Crafting. Stations. Valheim is starting to go that way, and I hope they stop and think about it before they go too far with it.

Some people are seeing 50% improvement in frames also, so it seems the graphics engine got some love too.
This is actually what I'm the most excited about - better performance. I can turn up a few of the graphics settings that I had to turn down to get decent FPS. I also agree that the complaints about time versus content are mostly from people who don't understand what else they did, what challenges they faced, and and how long this stuff usually takes for such a small team. If some people did just a bit of research they'd realize that their expectations are unrealistic, that more was done than they can see at a glance, and maybe a lot of those posts wouldn't happen.
