I agree. The fog and such drastically adds to both the atmosphere and immersion in general.

As for artificially happening.. I'm not sure; maybe.

@OP: wait until you get to the Mountains.. snowstorms are much more frequent than fog. :)

Also a Frames per second killer near any fire.

Generaly fog is anoying to me only when i go look for new land as you may end up hitting the coast of plains and get killed by a moskito. So its a waiting game.

Mistlands should be even more foggy and part of mehanic when new patch hits.

Personaly i will take a fog over the rain.
