We transported our lox to a meadows, black forest island, with no plains or swamp. There is a small mountain biome in the centre, but it does not spawn any mountain biome creatures.
The lox now have no enemies that can kill them. Lox were just as easy to transport via longship as were wolves. One just has to make sure to stay away from shore so the lox don't agro to any greydwarves or deer. Other than the fact that the lox have nearly denuded the area of trees chasing deer (we do not keep them in a pen, but let them free roam), this has turned into an asset. Every time I portal to the island, I have lots of deer & greydwarf parts to pickup that the lox have killed, as I am distributing food for the lox. The only downside is that there are no cloudberries there to harvest, but the fact that I now have more than just a lox farm there outweighs that minor drawback. I now have a ready source of harvestable deer and greydwarf parts, I do not have to kill to obtain.

Lox get stronger the older they get, and the lox on the island are so numerous and strong that even trolls do not pose much of a threat.
