Vikings used maps, why shouldn't we? We aren't all Eric the Red. Game is meant to be fun, no maps make a game needlessly annoying, and no one should have to draw a map out physically on paper when the map can change on every game....if the world were static and unchanging then I might see your point, but as the game is designed...no, maps are necessary.

Ping would be busted with no map unless they changed the way it's activated anyway, making finding your way back to a party without no real guide practically impossible without littering the land with beds, and then you only get ONE spawn point, not like other games were you can choose your rez zone. Unless those things are changed maps are likely here to stay.
