Yeah, be sure you have enough stamina. Once the fish is hooked stamina will start to drain very fast.
I cast as far as I can, wait 2-3 seconds and start reeling back. As i understand, bigger fishes are far away so you have to lure them towards the shore. When the bait is somewhere between 10 and 15 meters i stop and wait. At this distance i can observe fishes and see when they are about to catch the bait. You have to start reeling as soon as they take the bait or they will escape really quick (1-2 seconds).
