Still, now the rug situation is more inline with rest of comfort items so all in all, I think this was for the better. Lets face it, you can't feel rested from dawn till dusk without some (maybe craftable) stimulate.

"This level of decoration" in a playthrough can be as early as hunting for a few wolf pelts even before killing Eikthyrr. Sneaking up to shoot some wolves in low mountains was a nice extra way to get an extra point of comfort quite early on, before fine wood even. And a nice reward for a bit of an extra challenge (cooked wolf meat is also decent at that stage, providing the same +45 health as deer stew, which isn't available until you have bronze).

It's just very odd and a bit annoying that they're only fixing this now. Afaik no new rugs were added in the Mistlands update. A better timed update would have been to do this with the Frost Cave update, since that added a 4th rug, which was also the 2nd one for the biome you get its materials from..
