So I figured I would take on moder before going to bed.
I had eaten lox meat, sausages and queens jam, I downed some frost mead and summoned the boss.
Very first ranged attack I failed to dodge and I was one shot, in afterthought im not sure if I let my health reach full after eating before summoning the dragon.
I then immediately faced the downside of my poor choice of not moving my portal as was earlier suggested to me by Ryzilynt and so I had to go through my portal after downing cloudberries and lox meat and then use most of my stamina to climb out of my portal hole to retrieve my things and keep fighting (are bosses supposed to despawn after killing you?)
Since my portal was so close to the altar the stamina drain from exiting my hole and then trying to dodge moder left me running on empty every time I reached my stone.
Died 2 or 3 times to get it right. When I did get my gear back on without dying that was the final battle.
My observations from the fight were as follows.
When she is in the air she isnt even worth shooting, focusing on conserving stamina to dodge was the only importance.
When on the ground im not sure if it was glitchery due to the nearby terrain being mostly cliffs but moder seemed pretty useless other than her breath attack which I lazily dodged most of the time.
To attempt melee was near pointless due to my sword usually swinging too low (again terrain issues) so I strictly stuck with my bow after establishing it wasnt worth it.
She mostly just stayed still on the ground staring at me so when she was in the air became the only real risk to my life if I didnt dodge properly. Healing mead saved me 5 or 6 times.
My fully upgraded draugr bow needed no repairs despite doing all of the work.
Fire arrows on a draugr bow are pointless since it seemed to negate the passive poison of the bow chipping away with those was taking ages but when I switched to my obsidian and had the damage of those plus the bows passive poison the fight became considerably quicker.
A side note having wooden walls around my portal hole were an amusing distraction for modor to go after instead of me and my portal was undamaged either because she couldnt get her flying attacks into the hole or because there was a silver ore vein above my portal which protected it. And only one wolf interfered with the fight after night hit.
While the fight was technically easy due to her being so passive on the ground it was also high risk if I did get hit so I enjoyed it.
Anyways just felt like sharing. Tomorrow I venture into the plains to die a lot.
