"For combat, running, fishing etc. the stamina is OK as it's a mechanic with a purpose other than just making players wait."

Other than making players wait for their stamina to regenerate so they can resume combat, running, fishing etc., just what is that purpose?

Those of us who get tired when using hand tools to mine, chop down trees, and farm, both in the game and in real life would really, really like to know.
