You absolutely cannot compare this with 7d2d. Yes, you get events and they get stronger, but not really more dangerous. Even without cheese moats or plateaus, there are hardly any mobs that can harm a base surrounded by a wall.
Maybe a Troll can, but that was often bugged strangely for me that it has also made little damage to my walls as I had seen in Youtube videos.
