It was 33, but since it is now possible to upgrade troll armor to lvl 4 the max troll armor rating is now 40 (3x 12 + 4 from cape). This makes bronze and iron armor basically obsolete/waste of resources cuz troll armor isn't worse than those (...also due to sneaky + no movement penalty).
