I dont know what F5 or F9 does.
Nothing, in Valheim. In many games over the last few decades, those are the "quicksave" and "quickload" buttons. Don't sweat it, I'm just older than you by a good bit.
Also that's fair about legit deaths but i've got stuck in a game, could get out and ended up dead, saw that my last save was 20 minutes ago. Log out, then load back and im back at my house with no gear.
Unless theres a way to unstuck myself i feel a bit robbed here.
Press M to open the map, and look for the "skull and crossbones" icon. It'll say something like "DAY 168" under it. That's where your stuff is; go back and get it.
I'm not quite sure how you "got stuck", but in any case I can think of, there should be a way to work around whatever caused you to die the first time so that you can retrieve your stuff. It might take a little while, but it should be doable.
For example:
If you "got stuck" in the water and drowned, then build a boat (raft, karve, or longboat) to go back, and then just jump in the water, press "E" on your tombstone to get your stuff back, and get back on the boat.
Alternatively, build a "dock" to walk out and get your stuff.
Alternatively, make a hoe and/or pick and change the terrain to make it less likely you'll get stuck when you go for a swim.
Eat something. Better yet, eat 3 somethings. Hover your mouse cursor over the different foods, and loot at the health and stamina numbers they provide; eat stuff with lots of stamina if you want to go swimming, so you don't drown.
Conversely, eat stuff with lots of health if you got your face pushed in. Build new equipment, and upgrade it. Be prepared to fight whatever killed you last time, so you don't just end up with two tombstones full of junk.
The store page for Valheim says it's a "brutal exploration and survival game".
The "brutal" part is that mistakes hurt.
Learn from them, and make fewer of them in the future.
