Stake Walls and Spike stop this about 95% of the time, some monster will try to break the spikes, but I have to rows they never make it pass the first row, mainly because I build a walk path along the top of the spike wall and use my Bow, now Trolls with the Tree kinda suck cause they can swing trough your walls.
