it is ridiculously thick. there is no "light fog" in the game. it's either a clear day or youre totally blinded. you also cannot see the fog from the distance to avoid it as weather affects whole biomes at a time. Sometimes it lasts a really long time, too. I haven't tested this but it would be interesting if wind blew fog around so you could navigate around it where it appeared.
