Is this a demand made by microsoft?
I don't know why so many studios waste so much time on this when it tends to ♥♥♥♥ up so much, and the demographics don't really overlap to begin with. It's fine for something like Smite where there's a big public queue and a static game environment, or where pub sessions are a common thing like with Deep Rock Galactic. But for small server ecosystems that are mostly local hosted: you're wasting your time on a feature almost nobody is going to use, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up for everybody in the process.
Also, why the ♥♥♥♥ are you guys working on a console port when the game isn't even finished yet?
Cross-platform gaming is becoming a thing because multiple gaming platforms exist, and it's a bad business plan to exclude large groups of potential customers just because they use a different platform to play games.
Just because it's a service that you don't understand or may never use, doesn't mean it's "useless", in fact I have seen multiple posts on other threads of people asking about cross-platform playing with their friends, etc.... not everyone owns a PC, or gaming PC, just as not everyone owns a console.... others own multiple consoles / PC's... It's a needed service these days. especially on a game that allows multiple players to play together. Frankly, if they weren't trying to get as much of the global market as they could, I would seriously wonder why.
Obviously, you made no attempt to research this subject before coming here to give us your thoughts on it, otherwise you would have known that Iron Gate contracted a separate team specifically to port the game to console, so your theory about Devs wasting their time on consoles instead of development of the game is incorrect... Iron Gate isn't doing it, some other company is.
