In theory, I think it should work.

I would assume the bosses are allied with other enemy mobs from their biome (skeletons I bet are a Swamp mob and that is why they fight trolls and dwarfs in Black Forest) and enemies with one another.

Would be really cool to try out.
In fact, Elder and Moder are on the same island in one of the worlds I play in... but it's not my world, and I don't know if my friend would be willing to do such an experiment if I asked him. It might be possible to lure Moder down from her mountain.
