It works if done properly. That means not a single patch of grass left (a single grass can spawn a pack of lox). Thanks to this method my plains base is 100% peaceful.

The game's random spawn mechanics don't care whether the terrain has been altered. If no spawn is occuring around your base it's because of the structures there. Certain structures block the spawn (full list is here: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base ).
