I agree that sometimes mistlands and dark forest or meadow and dark forest can be hard to tell apart at times. Did you know mouse-over says the biome when you run into this issue?
Given the above, dark forest clashing with 2 biomes, I think DF needs a new color or something on the map.

Most of the markers are custom? The game gives you what.. the bosses, the spawn point, and beds? Anything else? Bed is obvious, the others you need to mouse over to learn. It might be nice to label them automatically.
