Combat is a broad aspect of the game. There is more that can be done with it than just tweaking how numbers work when you are trying to do perform things like blocks and parries. That happened months ago. And will also still be on going as they add new things to the game.
I think what this games combat needs most is a revision of how enemies behave in combat. Anything that you do with your combat positioning that would seem like a sound and logical choice in most games, actually just feels like cheese here. Even that one collapsed tree trunk that is only slightly too big to walk over, can be your best friend if you are getting swarmed.
It would go a long way if certain melee enemies could strafe, so as not to present their back to you every time they get mildly confused. I wouldn't worry too much whether it made them move silly. They already move silly.
And archers shouldn't run the entire way up to your position and render their ranged capability completely redundant simply because you've tucked yourself slightly out of their sight. Even an undead with barely the brains to understand the function of a bow, would probably realise that shooting a target point blank wouldn't feel intuitive. They would probably just try to ram the arrow into you by hand at that point.
I would also welcome if every melee weapon type had just one more move to play with, however the ability to hotkey between multiple weapons is already a decent compromise. But everyone agrees inventory slots are precious, often too precious to spend on making your playstyle more diverse than necessary.
