i`m sure i explored every corner because i walked around hugging the left wall, just to be sure i was going everywhere but found nothing.

8 is enough to get started... The kiln & smelter each require 5, but you aren't required to have both at the same time. Make a bunch of charcoal, then smash the kiln (you get everything back) and make a smelter. That will get you started with bronze while you keep up the search for more cores.
