I got a main at a (somewhat) raised BF island; with portals leading to small buildings near the swamp and the plains. The Mistlands base is "hidden" under the stairs of the infested mine the Queen is residing.

In a game at a dedicated server I play at with friends, I have my main base set up in the plains, using the (not so good looking) earth-wall and moat defences.
And only because I couldn't find a suitable island at that server.
