That's the only avenue to objectively improve the game, but I guess we'll never know. I would have loved to know what actually happened there.

To sum things up, there's a lot of points where the OP could have turned away from the course of events, but it didn't happen for one reason or another, and that's entirely normal. I don't think many players who were going against Moder could have survived that entire ordeal, but there should have been several ways out of it without running all the day down and off the mountain and into a fuling village. At least it was a crazy adventure even if it ended in disaster.
