i really enjoy making roads, but i very very rarely use pathen. i find the level tool far easier to make roads with. i like to generally follow the lay of the land, with just a bit of modification if needed. if i'm using it more often, or if it's closer to my base, i like to sometimes go over them with the cultivator and turn it into farm land, then go back thru that and add in grass here and there to give it a wandering 'look'.
