I'm honestly used to the rythm of game development and and update every 6 months is ok depending on the content to me. If they accomplish their proposed roadmap but with each major update every year and the small ones every half year, i think it would be good enough. But if they cancelled everything but the " home & whatever" update, then i'll be sad.
For comparison, "gta online" does that; the major updates launch with lots of bugs and some are fixed in the minor updates. "From the depths" does a minor update every 4 months or so but with tons of bugfixes. And Minecraft releases a lazy ♥♥♥♥♥♥ update every 6 months.
I'd rather have the devs honesty then the "No man sky" approach, or even worse, the "space engineers" approach (which was basically create another early access game without finishing the other one and randomly calling it fully released after a textures and multiplayer update).
On that note, i do navigate other forums sometimes and the toxic ones are usually the very popular ones or the FPS/competitive ones. That's why i found it strange.
