I'm thinking about renting a server from host havoc. I'll have to try it out first and see if I like it, and then convincing my dad to play.

Are there lots of mods available?

I've been running a server on g-portal for a long time now. Lots of good builds on there. V plus is an easy option built in that I have utilized. Very granular. lets you change most if not all of the default setting/base stats. No fall damage, no weathering , increased exp, etc. just a toggle switch , then of course a config file, but they give you a built in menu for editing if you'd like.
