I've been accused, rightfully, of playing MMO's as a single player so.. my opinion is a bit biased; still you did ask.

I think solo play can be easier, you set your own pace, and you know there's no backup nearby so you tend to play a bit more cautiously. I would advise listening to Hugin's advice - some of it is often ignored but is kinda crucial for solo play. That's when he advises you to keep a set of backup gear.. because, especially solo, your avatar may die in a place were getting to the corpse to get the stuff he had may be far more frustrating than it is worth.

I'd also advise you to steer clear of spoilers, youtube vids, streams, and even many parts of the official wiki. It is so much more rewarding, in my opinion, to discover things in Valheim for yourself.
