retsam1 replied to knock back - any way to reduce a little??? - and an end game to play April 19, 2022 @ 5:07:24 pm PDT
Your play style/approach to dealing with fulings factors more into your frustrations than the knockback in intself, really.
Nah I disagree
The fuling game exacerbates the situation, but I get tired of the extreme knock back all over the place, but especially in the parry situation because I don't want to block with a knock back.
Yeah in the fuling I get tired of playing the pinball, but that's just part of the game I guess... though I do wish the knock back could be tweaked.
But I doubt it will happen and I don't really want it to be a global change for everyone
But it does just get annoying to almost have shammy killed only to suddenly find myself 2 meters away from hit from a simple hit
And this is in full padded gear etc...
This still doesn't dispute it being your play style/approach.
playing with fulings involves finding a village then
1) trying to steal all the totems first, before killing anything
2) if I have a mod to harvest a everything near by, to steal their crops, before killing anything
3) then maybe try to open the chests or just destroy them instead, before killing anything
4) then go and selectively gank the shammies
5) finally run around a lot to isolate individuals to kill
6) deal with the berserkers, saving the "best" part for last...
I guess if I just look at the knockback as part of the unrealiism that is "the game" it's not too bad most of the time, except after parries!!!, but really I do get kind of fed up with it after playing my "game" for a while...
1. You don't have to steal first before killing, that's a choice, especially since you aggro most of a village doing that.
2. See my response to point 1.
3. See my response to point 1.
4. Thus after aggroing many in a village you target specifically shamans and...
5. Run around alot to avoid aggro and try to get fulings alone to take on singularly and....
6. Save the berserker for last.
This is all 100% how ---you--- choose to engage them. Many other people do not choose this specific approach and one on one melee style. Expecting that that method would not have challenges due to knockback or other things is a bit strange.
Other methods people employ:
1. Using ranged weapons to pick off shamans first as best as possible to not aggro an entire village and picking off as well at range other isolated goblins that may not pull aggro or some combination there of. Ranging then the others that may aggro and then meleeing.
2. Using the polearm's special attack to aoe and keep most at a distance if choosing to engage multiples.
3. Using any combination of 1 and 2 together.
4. Using a large pack of wolves almost solely.
5. Using a large pack of wolves with any combination of 1-2.
6. Using a lox and in any combination of 1, 2, and 4.
7. Raising the ground just outside of the village in a 1-2 square space and at a height just high enough to not get get hit but low enough that your iron hammer slam can get any that get close and/or using any combinations of 1, 2, 4, and 6.
8. Setting up a gauntless of spikes (commonly used in passive runs) and luring them in to it. Using a pit with spikes that you break the bridge you lure them across on.
9. Using campfires and kiting( its a common method for passive/speed run killing various mobs).
10 luring fulings to tar pit tar mobs(when applicable) or lox, or luring such to villages and with any combination of methods mentioned above.
And I can go on.
Point is that you're choosing a very specific method of engaging the fulings solely that is leading to your frustrations with the knockback. Its a mismatch.
I get that you're attempting to say that the knockback is excessive and counter intuitive to things like parrying etc but I'm primarily focused on saying that changing your approaches to handling different mobs can make the issues less or a non issue. You could've also chosen to say that the stagger time is too short for meleers wanting to use certain weapons special attacks that tame time to animate and trigger and thus do not have the results that they should by benefitting from the stagger.
But use of melee or ranged or any methods above is situation and contextual. My points thus still stand that due to the context/situation different methods are more effective and that your play style choice and approach could change to improve the effectiveness of your goal: clearing mods of those different situations.
