Do I understand the game's mechanics correctly that a "house" is raid eligible if is has all three of a workbench, bed and fire? So, if you don't put a bed or workbench by your chickens' housing, the area won't be raided? (I found an abandoned barn that I repaired. I plan to use it for my pigs when I get ready to tame some boars. No fire, so safe from raids, right?)
