I'm not even modded, and I had some crashing issues after that update. What worked for me was to uninstall Valheim, then delete the Valheim folder from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\", then reinstall.

The save files are located elsewhere, so my characters and worlds were fine afterwards.

Just made few new worlds for a new character (wanted a good looking Meadow start), and havent encountered any crashes. My fans aren't jet engines anymore after playing now, which used to be a bit of an issue back in the day.

I would suggest updating / checking your GPU drivers / validating the game files. I dont think it was the update, as it seems the optimisation is better than it was before. Used to get a lot of stutters and frame drops when Valheim first released, but now it runs pretty well.

I have restricted my frame-rate to 45 (I have a potato PC) so maybe restricting it could help if its taking up too many resources. You only need as much as your refresh rate.

TLDR : I hadnt played in a while, and when I last did, my CPU / GPU fans would have to work at times. It was a common issue at the time, especially if you worked the terrain alot.

Now I hardly ever hear them. So I dont think its the game, but maybe how the settings are, or you may have outdated drivers, or something else in software outside the game that is causing issues.
