The game does have fantasy elements. But it is tasteful. If its kicked up much more my personal opinion would be it can become to much to quickly. Like most modern games today which just have screen vomit all over them. Your not suppose to be a "God" in this game. Your constantly reminded that you are vulnerable and it should keep that theme throughout . Just my 2 cents for the sake of discussion.
Again, that's a really valid opinion, and I can see where you're coming from. I offer the rebuttal that you aren't really a God, but rather a God Slayer. Maybe the ability to enchant most weapons wouldn't necessarily be the right fit for the game, but I do think more elemental weapons are not only a fun idea in concept but are almost necessary to flesh the game out further. Even if there are only 1 or 2 weapons with a specific element, I would still like to see every element present in the game represented in the player's arsenal. Eikthyr, the literal first boss of the game, uses lightning as an elemental attack. Thor also makes appearances and harnesses lightning. Obviously our vikings shouldn't be as powerful as Thor, per se, but having SOMETHING that can harness electric power would still be very cool. Thor JR, if you will. After all, we are trying to prove ourselves to Odin, and building power and conquering the world around us is all a part of that. Wouldn't it make sense to gain strength and become your own legend by the end of your journey in Valheim?
