the planting is more the pain. I keep planting too close to each other, or too close to a workbench, or where there is no sunlight, or too close to the edge of my cultivated area... and that makes my perfectionist side paranoid, so I spend a half hour planting, to make sure that each plant has what it needs, and that my furrows are straight, etc.

It would be a lot easier if we could build planter boxes, which you can interact with to plant... take away all the guesswork of proper spacing.
