Sounds like you have an awesome defensive enclosure for your tamed creatures Kursor. Providing a cover enclosure is paramount if one needs to protect their livestock from flying enemies, especially "A Cold Wind Blows From the Mountains". Drakes can do an enormous amount of damage to one's animals in a very short amount of time, and they do not always focus on a player. Out of all the invasion events, I found that one to be very frustrating as it is the only event that comes to mind where I had problems keeping them away from my livestock.
The only time I have ever had a problem was early on when I assumed I had a few seconds to empty my inventory, while literally standing in front of a chest with it open when the invasion event announcement occurred. For new players, make sure you do not hesitate to run outside of your defensive walls, if you want your buildings and animals to come through it unscathed. A good strategy is to build what I call a "Killing Donut". Dig a circular hole with a raised earthen platform in the middle. Run to the middle of the donut and pick off the enemies from range with a bow as they fall into the hole. Fulings are intelligent though, they will not usually fall into the pit, but it is easy enough to kill them as they circle the edge. A couple of stone or corewood walls on the platform can protect one from Fuling Shaman ranged attacks.
I have so many 2 star wolves not only mixed in with my boars, but also in packs roving outside my walls. So much so that I rarely even get a chance to engage enemies before they get close enough. Currently "A Foul Smell From the Swamp" is the only invasion that kills my wolves, but it kills so few and I have so many the damage is minimal. Most of my bases do not have enough base structures close enough to one another to trigger an invasion event. I have villages rather than bases, with separate buildings for each crafting specialty.
