Apples to oranges comparrison.

New World= Mmo-lite. Housing, resource gathering etc is static. 3 Different questing systems(main, side, townboard and faction board objectives), pvp is primarily end game only(open world pvp is very light outside of people constantly dueling outside of windsward). End game is light in activities and most servers are in the 300-500 numbers of players at peak except for a few per region in the 1k-1.5k range.

Downsides are that pvp dictates ownership of towns and you have to pay taxes and fees set buy the company(guild) that owns the town which can be extreme. You need to do quests in 5 man dungeons to advance your main quest and on many servers, people are charging gold to join any 5 man group.

Also, the in game market economy of the game is very deflated for most resources and highly inflated for higher tier crafted items. Newer players have a steep gold earning curve to start and those not wise with saving end up unable to repair their gear because they have no gold for repairs(though its not hard to just go to lower areas and get starter items to use to build up enough for repairs.

Many leveling zones past level 25 are overtuned, especially if you make poor skill choices with weapons and you become dependent on others. However, the fastest leveling to 60 is just sticking to the level 1-25 zones only. There are other advantages that seem counter intuitive to doing that but really its the best to do.

Valheim is an open world survival game with a very limited set of "quests" and resources have specific spots to be harvested from but you can dig anywhere and build anywhere(new world you can only buy houses already set up in towns.) You can opt to play in single player or on someone's server or make your own. Its decentralized in that regard.

So really it is just going to boil down to subjectively what you want to play as far as genre type more than anything.

If price is the concern, then of course valheim is the cheapest right now.
