If you entered a dungeon in the swamp, you should have been able to bring better ql food and - far more important - made yourself stamina and health potions.

"Best" thing to do - imho - is to craft those potions at your main base and make sure you got 10 of each. Which means crafting both twice.

Meanwhile create yourself some food giving you better health and stamina.. Depending at which ingredients you got, craft 20:

Carrot Soup or Serpent Stew / Cooked serpent meat;
Cooked Fish / Deer Stew or Sausages
Queens Jam (I prefer Minced Meat Sauce) or Turnip Stew.

Add those to your last 3 slots, so you got quick access to them. Add the Health and Stamina potions to slot 4 and 5, leaving your main weapon, shield and a bow at slot 1, 2 & 3.

Next step is to bring yourself a spare hammer, your 2nd best armour, 2 Surtling Cores, 20 Fine wood and 10 Greydwarf eyes, so you can build yourself a portal. Build a 2nd portal at your main base and rename it "Swamp".

Now, head back to that dungeon and build yourself a small base, containing enough room for a chest, a portal, workbench and bed. Start by claiming the bed, then enter that dungeon and clear things again. When you notice you run out of stamina in a fight, use the potion. It does have a cool down, but with some smart moving you will be able to advance up to your tombstone and pick up the most usuful (read: weapons, armour, food, belt) items. Anything you can pick up after that is just an advantage.

Leave the dungeon for your temperary base, drop everything you don't need in the chest, return to pick up the rest of your items and continue clearing out that dungeon.

If you have found metal scraps you can't use the portal but at least you may be able to use it to take most of your other items home. Eventually pick up the metal scraps and return to your main base on foot or by boat and scratch that dungeon off of your map.

One major advantage, since you got a temperary base in the swamp, exploring it may actually become a bit easier now.

Thorin :)

PS: you didn't waste time. You learned a lesson telling you to enter an area better prepared next time. ;)
