I made it out! thankfully i brought two pickaxes and was able to mine leather scraps from the muddy piles. had to make a raft and sail all the way to one of my bases. basically took an entire in-game day just to sail across in the raft. Now I'm back with a new longship and a new portal connected, just in case.
