I dont think it detracts from the experience. I looked for one or two seeds with descriptions like "island heavy" or "difficult start" and avoided looking at the actual terrain. My first two maps were random, the second one is my main map and i call it Belithar, and the first island is MASSIVE. It also looks kinda like the netherlands, at least at first, and it would probably take you 10-20min on permanent deer boss buff to run from one end to another.
Edit" more like 20-30min now that i look at it again.
