Oh, I didn't even think of them like dungeons. I thought they were literal holes on the side of the mountain. It makes sense how you said they are dungeons, because otherwise, players would be able to dig into them, unless they make it so they can't. I mean, it would be nice to have caves that aren't instanced too. Eg: when there is a blizzard, we can take cover and put down a campfire too.
