I build main base on a island off any coast,, then the invasion/raids don't matter.. currently I have an island that is half black forest and half meadows.. it's perfect.. well away from the coast.

I have an outpost in the plains just for growing flax and barley and an outpost in mistlands for sap and mushrooms..
