With this method you can even leave your home base via portal A, walk overland to portal B, rename it 'home' to get home, the do the step through to put the names right again.

There is also a portal mod that links all the portals via a dropdown list. You can port straight from Port B to Port C without ever going back home. If you like portals, I highly recommend it.

This right here. I have 2 portals at my base. 1 goes to my portal hub and another as an emergency to get back to my base.
Though i have never had any problems with my portals except for misspelling the word
