It works for the purpose of stopping the obnoxious flamethrower effect, because the trigger area is at the front. Too close it can teleport and trap inside models, a 2m gap is ok.

Valheim Plus has the option - note that it must be enabled in its config file. There is also UnrestrictedPortals (may be misremembering the name but it's something like that).

There are plenty QOL mods including the one that removes portal restrictions allowing you to teleport ores and even animals :) Check it on nexusmods or thunderstore.Also if you dont want to play with ..

You could also have logged into a new world and just collected a few stones and branches, made a new hammer and went back to demolish and replace whatever pieces set you free.
