Inside the cave you can only build 3 things - Log seat, camp fire, & cooking station. But you can go in there for a short rested buff if needed.

You could "claim" it in the way that you build a workbench near the entrance, add some defensive structures as well as a wall and a roof around it to do basic crafting; then enter the cave a..

Maybe they could add a rare builder NPC who when recruited will build pre made structures on player designated plots of land? Maybe even tie in a workshop/ player made blueprint feature.

Would be nice if we could find Lost Souls wandering the meadows that we could recruit and give simple commands (Follow, Stand Guard, and Wander Aimlessly)

In other words... a motivation or a reason to have a base, when you are solo... (even if it is mostly cosmetic).
